The 288-space multi-storey car park project formed part of the major mixed use and urban regeneration of Basingstoke town centre, which was carried out by developer Muse – part of the Morgan Sindall Group, with Stripe Consulting being the architects and the structural engineers on the scheme.

StructureCare was appointed by main contractor, Morgan Sindall and were tasked with applying car park deck coatings to both the exposed car park decks and internal car park decks as well as applying deck coatings to the stairwells and nosings.

Following considerable discussions between the main contractor, the engineers and the end client, the DeckProtect+ range of car park deck coatings was selected. This technically advanced range of deck coating systems combines excellent durability, exceptional flexibility, cost effectiveness, along with a single point and robust 10-year warranty.

The project presented several challenges to the StructureCare team, not least undertaking the works during the COVID-19 pandemic and also challenging British weather conditions. The works were completed to everyone's satisfaction with Ken Davis, Site Manager, StructureCare explaining:  "We faced many challenges along the way with the weather being unkind for much of the project, but we persevered, and I am delighted that the end results meet the usual StructureCare standard. The client team were understanding throughout the project and did not pressure us to apply the DeckProtect+ systems out of spec and I look forward to hopefully delivering future MSCP projects alongside them”.
