Roofshield PmB Provides Waterproofing Solution

Temple Quay in Bristol, a large multi-tenant commercial building, has recently undergone flat roof refurbishment using Pitchmastic's Roofshield PmB waterproofing system.

The existing roof had been the source of several leaks therefore a long term solution was needed that allowed all the plant and equipment plinths on the roofs and walkways to be encapsulated in order to stem the leaks.

One of the UK's leading Building Consultancies contacted USL StructureCare for waterproofing solutions. After a complete site assessment and free survey by a Pitchmastic PmB specialist, a detailed bespoke specification was issued to the client and Roofshield PmB was determined as the most suitable solution to resolve the existing problems.


Roofshield PmB forms a seamless polyurethane membrane that bonds to virtually any roof substrate and provides unparalleled waterproof protection. Roofshield PmB system combines high elasticity with excellent film strength. This means the system will move the roof without splitting or shearing, providing a long-lasting and durable surface.


Unlike traditional roofing refurbishment methods that are reliant on flames and heat such as felt and bitumen. Roofshield PmB is applied cold, making it one of the safest refurbishment materials on the market.


Any penetration through the existing roof membrane is an area where water might enter the building. The Roofshield PmB waterproofing system is seamlessly applied by brush or roller and encapsulates the entire roof including areas around existing plant machinery, pipes and rainwater outlets.



Roofshield PmB provides the ultimate waterproofing protection and solves the problems associated with the long-term waterproofing of flat roof surfaces. It provides a flexible, durable membrane that can guarantee waterproof protection for up to 25 years (BBA approved).


The system was professionally applied by sister company and specialist contractor USL StructureCare who are a trained Pitchmastic PmB partner. Whilst the projected presented a number of challenges to the team, not least working on balconies and walkways serving a live commercial property, the works were completed to everyone's satisfaction. This partnership ensures that the client received single point responsibility for the waterproofing element of the contract. This unique offering avoids the all too common 'manufacturer and approved contractor' back to back guarantee, which, when issues arise, often leaves the customer having to determine whether material failure or installation is to blame.
